Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Lampstand Digital LLC ("we", "us") for your use of the Scroll the Church Fathers app and this website. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
License to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. The app's design, code, name and icon belong to us. If you got the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement also applies, and Apple has no duty to provide support for the app.
Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one, keep access to your email or sign-in provider secure, as anyone with it can use your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Premium subscriptions
Premium is offered as:
- a monthly subscription at $6 a month;
- a yearly subscription at $30 a year, with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers;
- a one-time lifetime purchase at $75.
Prices are in US dollars; your store may show a local price. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and their terms govern billing. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. If you do not cancel during a free trial, the yearly subscription begins and you are charged when the trial ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings; deleting the app or your account does not cancel it. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. To restore Premium on a new device, use Restore purchases in Settings.
Content
Scripture in the app comes from public-domain texts: the World English Bible, the King James Version and Brenton's English Septuagint. Quotations from the Church Fathers come from the public-domain Schaff translations, via the Christian Classics Ethereal Library, copied word for word. We provide this content as is, for reading and devotion. We have tried to reproduce it faithfully but do not promise it is free of errors, and it is not a substitute for pastoral guidance.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, resell or redistribute the app, or our selection and arrangement of its content, as a product or service;
- scrape, bulk download or overload our servers, or use the app to build a competing database;
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- get around the free limits or Premium access by any means other than buying Premium;
- use the app in a way that breaks the law or harms others.
The underlying public-domain texts remain free for anyone to use from their original sources.
Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or stop offering the app, with notice where we reasonably can. If we stop offering the app while you have an active paid subscription, refunds follow the store's policy.
Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise the app will be uninterrupted or error free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer laws of the place you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app if a change is significant. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
